Another One!: New Music Friday

Are you ready to hear “DJ KHALED!” “Another one” and “We the real music” at least 14 times? You might actually want to.

I need to keep this short today. I work more now than I did with a job. I’m gonna give you guys a few tracks from Khaled Khaled, the 14 track album with an insane list of featured artists, including:

  • JAY-Z
  • Megan Thee Stallion
  • Cardi B
  • Nas
  • Drake
  • Post Malone
  • 21 Savage
  • Justin Timberlake
  • Lil Wayne
  • Justin Bieber
  • Lil Baby
  • DaBaby
  • Migos
  • H.E.R.
  • Roddy Ricch
  • Diddy

That…is why you might want to hear those 3 catch phrases 14 times.

DJ Khaled ft. Nas, JAY-Z & James Fauntleroy and Harmonies by The Hive – SORRY NOT SORRY

You guys…Khaled got Nas and Hova on the same damn track and I am suddenly back in 1998. I love it and I have nothing else to say.

Hear ye, hear ye, only kings stand near me
Silicon Valley money mixed with Henny, that’s a Fendi
Half a century almost, sliced the green like a lawnmower
‘Til we all on, never fall off, hear a boss talk
You don’t hear me? That’s your loss
Winner in life, fuck a coin toss
I’m coin-based, basically cryptocurrency Scarface

Since this is the only music video from the album, so far…here is the whole damn thing on Spotify

Outside of Khaled Khaled, I haven’t had a chance to listen to the Spotify New Music Friday playlist yet today, so I’ll join you in doing so. Here is the one song I have heard…

Billie Eilish – Your Power

From her upcoming album Happier Than Ever, here is Your Power.

Try not to abuse your power
I know we didn’t choose to change
You might not wanna lose your power
But havin’ it’s so strange

Here is the rest of the Spotify playlist. I’ll be back to see you all again soon!

NMF (New Music Friday!)

Welcome to the weekend, my friends! It is NMF, or otherwise known as New Music Friday! Let’s see what’s new this week!

H.E.R. – Come Through (feat. Chris Brown)

This song is sexy, I won’t lie. There’s not a whole lot of good R&B out there these days. The genre just hasn’t been the same since the classics from the 90s and early 2000s. Come Through kind of brings me back to that.

But you should come through tonight
I’m chilling on the Westside, boo
Call my homegirl, tell your best friend
You can slide too on the low, a remote location
I don’t want them see me gettin’ faded

The Weeknd – Save Your Tears (Remix feat. Ariana Grande)

I know, I know…you’ve heard this song a million times.

Ariana puts a fresh spin on it, and the video is wild. Cartoon Abel creates an Ariana Grande sex doll.

Honestly, I think this is the remix we didn’t know we needed.

This is dope!
Met you once under a Pisces moon
I kept my distance ’cause I know that you
Don’t like when I’m with nobody else
I couldn’t help it, I put you through hell

Sasha Sloan – when was it over? (feat. Sam Hunt)

Our third duet of the week comes from a genre I don’t talk about enough.

Country.

I mean, it’s more on the country-pop side. I like it. It’s relatable and Sasha and Sam’s voices blend perfectly together.

Everything is about trucks in country music, eh?
When was it over for you?
When was it over?
When was the moment you knew
That you were gonna walk out eventually?
It’s still not over for me

Teddy Swims – Set The Bed On Fire

This is another one I’d stick in the country-pop genre. I’m just gonna say it. I f*cking love this song. This dude has some serious talent. If you haven’t seen him before, Teddy became a YouTube sensation with his amazing covers of popular songs. Like this one with almost 20 million views:

That voice, dude. I’m jealous.

Here is the Atlanta, Georgia native with his new single, Set The Bed On Fire.

So if you’re gonna leave me, leave me
In the middle of the night
Set the bed on fire

NMF Conclusion

That’s gonna wrap it up for me. For more new releases, check out the updated NMF Spotify playlist right here.

New Music Friday!

Welcome to the weekend! That means today is…New Music Friday! Gotta make this a quick one. I’ve got too much work to do today, so let’s get to the music!

Young Stoner Life, Young Thug & Gunna – Solid (feat. Drake)

Young Stoner Life Records is back with Slime Language 2, the second album released on the label. I do enjoy some of the tracks on this album…but Solid isn’t doing it for me. Drake feels out of place (maybe because he overshadowed the others) and the song never really reeled me in. But who am I? Let’s see what Twitter says!

Alright, I’ll take the L

Here it is:

Find me somewhere out in London, you know that’s the hideaway
I need some head and some moral support from you right away
Since I been makin’ donations to you like United Way (You know how I do)

Julia Michaels – Love Is Weird

With the release of Love Is Weird, Michaels announced her upcoming debut album, Not In Chronological Order. The album will drop on April 30.

I love this. Write away, young one.

Here is Love Is Weird:

Tattoos on my arm
Still scared of forever
Keep my ex’s letters
In the third door of my dresser

Walk Off The Earth – Anthem

I will unapologetically say, I am a fan of Walk Off The Earth…even if keyboardist and vocalist Gianni Luminati has not one…not two…but THREE man buns. Excessive, sir.

In a world full of sadness and depression and just straight up shit, Anthem is a feel-good tune that we could all use. Check it out here.

I give up sometimes when it hurts
I get buzzed sometimes cuz it works, yeah
I was looking for answers
But I found an anthem instead

Envee – Their Whispers (feat. Matthew Garwood)

Here is a small label release for you guys. Envee is actually one of my first artists to sign as an A&R at Estabrook Road Records. The 21-year-old Australian rapper has all the talent and all the drive I wish I had at his age. Give it a listen and let me know what you guys think in the comments!

Alright guys, that’s all the time I have today. For more new releases, check out Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist right here. Have a great weekend, friends!

Indie Artist Interview – Envee

Welcome to another edition of Indie Artist Interviews. Today’s guest is Australian rap artist, Envee. We’ll be talking about his release and we are going to learn a lot about him.

Intro

Ryan: Envee! What’s up, brother? Welcome to the internet! Why don’t you tell our readers a little about yourself before we get rollin’.

Envee: So I was born in Sydney, Australia, I’m 21 years old and I’ve been grinding essentially my whole life if I’m honest, man. I moved around a lot growing up my G, and I mean a lot, man. I think I’ve moved houses like a good 15-20 times, man. So I don’t really have a place I can call home, but I lived in the central coast for about 8-9 years. At the time I was there, I was the only Middle Eastern kid in a very predominantly “Australian” Area. There was not a lot of other ethnicities in my school growing up and I paid the price for that, man. I got picked on a lot for that, especially because my name was so different.

I have one brother. He’s older, I love him to death, man. He’s always there for me, he’s my rock, always catches me when I fall so I’m very grateful for him, and my mum and dad too. Oh my days, I love my parents heavy. They’ve always supported me and my risky lifestyle, especially because I’m not your average kid, like at all. I was a professional footballer from a young kid. I was a musician, an actor, I performed in theatre, then I travelled at 17 to live on my own and play football in England. I guess I’ve put them through a lot, and they’ve supported everything I’ve done.

Ryan: That’s crazy, man. And for our American readers, he played what we call “soccer.” haha

Their Whispers

Ryan: Alright bro, tell us about the big release.

Envee: So about tonights release, oh my days, is it special. You know I was sitting in the studio with my executive producer and best friend sam Antony, who is by far, the greatest producer in Australia, hands down. His music knowledge, his creativity, his ideas, they’re second to none. I’ve never seen it before. We were sitting down in the studio and we were about to do a gig, and I had created this concept which eventually turned into this track. As Sam and I were sitting down, I just turned to him and said, “man what the fuck is happening to my beautiful genre that was once rap? How the fuck did we go from Lupe fiasco, Eminem, my guy J Cole to fucking lil Xan and Lil Yaghty?” then I turned to him and said “fuck it I guess we gotta rescue it.” So I put a lot of work into this track man, in terms of lyricism, production, I worked extremely hard on the lyrics, I made sure the story was rough, accurate and hard hitting.

Its also really safe to say that the production on this track is undeniably the greatest thing I’ve heard in 2021 too. Every time I step up my game with lyricism, Sammy surprises me and does something crazy with production, so it’s a really healthy relationship.

But the song is about a tale of 2 types of men, one guy who put up with so much adversity in his life and made his way honestly, compared to a scared little man running around with guns thinking he can be the one to say “who’s life ends when.” No man should have that power but god. I even took a little stab at that little twat 6ix9ine, who. I have no respect for at all, ruining my genre of music with his bullshit and earning money when real hard working artists have to figure how they’re going to eat next week. But I’ll let you guys figure out where I did that haha.

Ryan: Oh damn, I didn’t hear that diss. I’ll have to listen closer. haha. This song is fire though, man.

Here is the pre-save link! Click it and get this track at midnight tonight! https://presave.io/t/theirwhispers

The Music Behind Envee

Ryan: What’s the best track ever released?

Envee: My Favourite track ever released has to probably be No Role Models by J. Cole. Man he really is one of the greatest artist’s on the planet, it would be an honour and dream come true to do a song with him one day.

Ryan: That is a dope track. This brings me to my next question, and I’m sure J. Cole is a part of that answer. Who are your biggest influences?

Envee: My biggest influences, sheesh you got time? Haha there’s so many. From Eminem, Lupe fiasco, J Cole, to Muse and Marlon Roudette. there’s a lot of artists who shaped who I am today, but I think the ones that did the most damage for me would be Eminem and J Cole, two of the greatest lyricists on this planet. I can only dream to be as good as them one day.

Ryan: I have to agree on Eminem. Dude is a lyrical genius. So out of those artists, who would you want to collaborate with?

Envee: Eminem, J Cole and Envee on a track…that’s a billboard number 1 for a lifetime.

Life Outside of Music

Ryan: What are your hobbies outside of music?

Envee: My hobby is definitely playing football, man. it’s hard for me not to miss it, man. I was, and I guess still am so good at it.

Ryan: Man, I miss being athletic. Getting old sucks. Beware. haha. How about your weirdest job?

Envee: HAHA man my weirdest and actually worst job I ever had was a salesman selling charity door-to-door, man. Damn that job sucked so bad. From 8am till 7pm, sometimes I wouldn’t get home until 10pm. That job sucked so bad, but you gotta do what you gotta do to make the dreams work.

Ryan: Oh man, tell me about it. I’ve had some ridiculous jobs. We’ll talk about that another time.

Little Envee and Dating Envee

Ryan: What were you like as a kid?

Envee: As a kid I was a dreamer and hard worker, man. I played 3 instruments by the time I was 11-12. I was picked on a lot but I still loved everyone. I’ve always been a man for the people, that’s why I do this though. I do everything I do for my brothers and sisters in this world. We must stay united together and fight the evil forces that try to divide us, like racism, sexism, greed and so on. We must stay truthful, honest and we must educate each other about each other.

Ryan: Well said. We definitely need some of that here in the States. If you could go on a date with any artist, who would it be?

Envee: Hmmmm, Maybe Billie Eilish man. She just amazes me, like she’s incredible. I’d love to just learn from her and see what she’s like in her life you know.

Ryan: I love Billie. She doesn’t give any fucks. None.

Envee Fans

Ryan: What are you doing to stay connected to your fans during Covid?

Envee: I mean Australia managed Covid really well, so every now and then when I walk the streets I have fans greet me and say hello. The funniest thing that’s happened was I went through a drive through of McDonald’s and I had the guy taking my order listening and singing Kinda Funny which was my first track that went top 40 global. That was amazing man, I was like you like that, song yeah? And he was like dude I love it! Haha not knowing that I actually wrote it hahaha. But I would say social media more. It’s made it easy you know, I’m not really good at the whole social media game, but I talk to a lot of people, get a lot of messages, so mainly social media.

Ryan: It’s nice to have people recognize your art. If you could perform your music in any city today, where would it be?

Envee: I’m really not sure man. Anywhere I go, I want the crowd to feel my energy, Envee concerts are crazy man, because it’s not just me performing, it’s all of us together. It’s insanity. The electric in the air is terrifying. I would love to perform in LA or London.

Ryan: Well, when we start gigging again, I need to check your show out, for sure.

Conclusion

Ryan: Got just a few more questions for ya, buddy. What is your favorite comedy film of all time?

Envee: Man good question, I have so many far out, anything Jim Carrey, Kevin Hart, Sacha Baron Cohen act in will be my favourite.

Ryan: Ace Ventura was the first movie that made me want to be an actor. I always used to mimic Jim Carrey’s facial expressions. I was a weird kid.

Ryan: What’s your drink of choice?

Envee: Water or Juice, definitely.

Ryan: One more for ya. Anything you want to say to our readers?

Envee: Yeah definitely, keep strong. I know these last couple of years have been really tough on every one, but only together will we move forward. If we stay strong and protect one another, we will be the strongest people in the world.

Envee its not a solo act, Envee means all of us going to the top together, reaching for the stars and being together. I cannot change this world, this music game on my own, we must do it together. Any time you hear an Envee track, you are a part of something bigger, better. We are one together. We will beat anything they throw at us. I love you all.

Ryan: Love it, bro. Good luck on your release tonight. I’m really looking forward to it!

New Music Friday!

I know I apologized for this last week, and here we are again. I haven’t been able to post much lately, as I took on another job at Estabrook Road Records and I have been studying music business online. But it’s the weekend and I cannot miss New Music Friday! I also have 2 great interviews coming up this week with Cat Thompson and L’Marco, so follow us for updates!

Doja Cat ft. SZA – Kiss Me More

I feel like I’ve heard this song somewhere. Doja definitely sampled from Olivia Newton John‘s hit, Physical. Kiss Me More is a catchy-ass tune and the music video is visually stunning.

Can you kiss me more?
We’re so young, boy, we ain’t got nothin’ to lose, uh-oh
It’s just principle
Baby, hold me ’cause I like the way you move, uh-oh

Twenty One Pilots – Shy Away

Along with this single, Twenty One Pilots announced their upcoming album Scaled and Icy which will be released May 21. At 8:00 pm EST on that day, the duo will also hold a live-streamed concert. For tickets, hit up live.twentyonepilots.com.

In the meantime, check out their new single, Shy Away.

When I get home
You better not be there
We’re placin’ bets you won’t

Polo G – Rapstar

This track is a whole vibe and I am feeling it. I don’t have much to say about it, really. Just listen to it. Several times.

Seriously, if you don’t know who Polo G is…you will. This track is straight up fire. Check it out here.

Uh, copped a BMW, new deposit, I picked up another bag
Like fuck it, I’ma count while I’m in it
I hear planes flyin’, crowds screamin’, money counters, chains clangin’
Shit, I guess that’s how it sound when you winnin’

Estabrook Road Records

There are a few other decent releases this week, but I want to talk a little about the little guys. It’s not a bias thing. I really do enjoy listening to tracks from these smaller labels. Estabrook Road has put out some fire tracks recently with C. Lacy and Jane Handcock. We have 5 new releases this week and a great one coming next week. I’ll post the pre-save links below so you can check them out on whichever platform you prefer.

DMX – Slippin’

As a bonus track, and a tribute to DMX, who passed away this afternoon at 50-years-old after a drug overdose, here is his 1998 hit Slippin’

X recently told Uproxx about the origin of his addiction to crack cocaine, claiming his mentor passed him a blunt that he didn’t know was laced with liquid crack…at 14-years-old. “A monster was born” he said. Here’s the full interview. Warning, this shit is heartbreaking.

New Music Friday!

Welcome once again to another edition of New Music Friday here on Le Café Music Blog. It’s been a bit of a hectic week, so I haven’t posted since last Friday. I will definitely have more for you guys this week!

Now let’s get to the music!

Olivia Rodigo – Deja Vu

Olivia burst onto the scene with her debut track Drivers License, so it’s going to be hard to top that on her second shot.

This song seems to be a follow up about the blonde girl that always made her pout. This time, she wasn’t driving through the suburbs. She started this song with a car ride to Malibu.

Let’s see what Twitter had to say about this track.

That certainly escalated quickly.
You learn something new every day

Let’s get to the video.

So when you gonna tell her
That we did that too
She thinks it’s special
But it’s all reused

Demi Lovato – Dancing With The Devil

Demi Lovato makes her emotional return after her 2018 near-death experience after an overdose. Dancing With The Devil...The Art Of Starting Over is Demi’s first album since 2017.

Lovato has been through hell and back. I won’t get into those details out of respect for her. She lays a lot of it out in this recent documentary, so have a watch if you’re interested. Just a warning…it’s a lot to take in.

Here is the title track from her new album, Dancing With The Devil.

It’s just a little white line, I’ll be fine
But soon, that little white line is a little glass pipe
Tinfoil remedy almost got the best of me
I keep praying I don’t reach the end of my lifetime

BTS – (방탄소년단) Film out

Their first single after smashing the charts with their hit Dynamite, the South Korean boy band is back. This time, they are not singing in English…or Korean. Film Out is sung in Japanese.

The upcoming BTS album, which includes Film Out, expected to be released on June 16…is entirely in Japanese.

I’d say that’s…not bad.

Here is the K-Pop Japanese track, Film Out

(Romanized)
Tantan to furitsumotta kioku no naka de
Kimi dake wo hiroi atsumete tsunagete
Heya juu ni utsushite nagame nagara
Komiageru itami de kimi wo tashikamete iru

Iggy Azalea, Tyga – Sip It

Yup, Iggy is back and she’s teaming up with Tyga on her newest release. I’m not gonna lie to you guys. This song is f*cking horrible. It’s like a Walmart brand of WAP. Iggy, you went away for a while…what made you think this was the song to come back with? Straight up trash.

Blonde, blonde, blonde, blonde, blonde, Richard on my arm
Rappers in my phone, in my DM, won’t leave me alone
Blonde, blonde, blonde, blonde, hair thirty inches long
Boys on my d*ck, sip this p*ssy like it’s Styrofoam, ayy

Jane Handcock – Forgive Them

Sorry, Jane. I can’t forgive Iggy for that sack of sh*t she just dropped. But this song right here…is fire. This is Jane’s second release with Estabrook Road Records and this woman deserves more recognition in the R&B world.

Conclusion

Iggy Azalea still sucks.

There is much better music out there, so have a listen to Spotify’s weekly New Music Friday playlist right here:

New Music Friday!

Clock out now and listen to new music. Work can wait until Monday. It’s New Music Friday!

Let’s get right into the music!

Lil Nas X – MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)

A music executive on LinkedIn discussed how TikTok is only good for producing “One-Hit-Wonders” while specifically naming Lil Nas X as one of them, with his first number 1 hit, Old Town Road.

I couldn’t disagree more, but I kept my trap shut because LinkedIn is for professional connections and I’m not trying to get into a Twitter argument on a professional platform.

TikTok is incredible for artists AND labels alike. It’s a great place for A&Rs, like myself, to discover great new artists…like Lil Nas X.

Not to mention, Lil Nas X is far from a “one-hit-wonder. He has had several hits since Old Town Road. His track Holiday reached number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100. Panini hit number 5, and Rodeo hit number 22.

With all due respect to this music executive…this is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in a long time.

TikTok creators…keep creating. Put yourself out there. You don’t know who’s watching.

Labels and music executives…use TikTok. Discover the unbelievable talent on the platform. You might find your next Lil Nas X.

Here’s Lil Nas X with his next hit, MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)

Cocaine and drinkin’ with your friends
You live in the dark, boy, I cannot pretend
I’m not phased, only here to sin
If Eve ain’t in your garden, you know that you can

The Kid LAROI – Shot For Me

A week after LAROI’s feature on Justin Bieber’s new album, Justice, the 17-year-old Australian rapper dropped a piano version of Drake‘s 2011 hit, Shot For Me. This track comes out as a part of Spotify’s Single Session. The Kid has already blown up in Australia, and Spotify has taken notice.

Here is The Kid LAROI’s cover of Drake’s Shot For Me.

24kGoldn – Love or Lust

Another TikTok star proving my point that some music executives don’t always know what they are talking about, 24kGoldn releases another gem off of his debut album El Dorado.

24kGoldn dropped out of the University of Southern California to pursue his music career. TikTok helped him succeed…and succeed quickly.

If you know him from TikTok, you know the single that blew up on the app, Valentino. If you discovered him with the rest of the world, you know him from his number 1 hit, Mood.

I love this new track. It hits a lot differently than Mood does, and I am into it.

It’s love or it’s lust, we just need to be clear
‘Cause if you’re in love, then I shouldn’t be here
It’s never enough, so I gotta leave you now
Ooh-woah-oh, oh-oh

Tate McRae – bad ones

The 17-year-old Canadian singer began her performance career as a dancer on So You Think You Can Dance?

You probably know her from her hit single You Broke Me First. From her new EP, too young to be sad, here is her next hit, bad ones.

I keep falling for the bad ones
The always-make-me-sad ones
Trying hard to hold my ground
But it always ties me down, yeah, the bad ones
Way too good at falling for the bad ones

Conclusion

These are my four featured tracks for the week. There is some really good new stuff from Rag n’ Bone Man, Evanescence, Demi Lovato, and so much more right here on Spotify’s weekly New Music Friday playlist.

And TikTokers…keep TikTokin’.

New Music Friday!

Happy New Music Friday, everyone, and welcome to the weekend! It’s a good day for all my Beliebers out there. Justin Bieber dropped his 6th studio album at midnight.

If you’re not a Belieber, it’s cool. We have music for everyone.

Justin Bieber – Peaches ft. Daniel Caesar, Giveon

Justin Bieber released his much anticipated studio album, Justice…and there is already legal trouble brewing.

French dance duo, Justice claims Bieber intentionally used the same “cross t” that they use as their logo. There’s a lot going on with that, so you can read about it here at Rolling Stone. In the meantime, I’ll let you be the judge:

What do you guys think? Justified lawsuit? Let me know in the comments!

Now, let’s get to Peaches. I’m not gonna lie…this song is a vibe. Unfortunately, I have a feeling radio stations are going to play this song out until everyone hates it by the end of summer. I don’t even smoke (often), but this song has me considering a trip to the dispensary.

Don’t forget to check out the rest of Justice on all streaming sources.

I got my peaches out in Georgia (Oh, yeah, shit)
I get my weed from California (That’s that shit)
I took my chick up to the North, yeah (Bad-ass bitch)
I get my light right from the source, yeah (Yeah, that’s it)

Lana Del Rey – White Dress

The music video for White Dress from her new album Chemtrails Over the Country Club just dropped, and Lana fans are all standing around in a puddle of tears.

lol

“How do I join in the sobfest?” you ask? Watch the video for White Dress right here.

Down at the men in music business conference
Down in Orlando, I was only nineteen
Down at the men in music business conference
I only mention it ’cause it was such a scene
And I felt seen, mm…

Nick Jonas – Selfish ft. Jonas Brothers

Nick recently released his Spaceman Deluxe Album which includes a new track where Nick is joined by his brothers…but not all of them. Kevin and Joe are obviously on the track, but I just recently found out there’s a “Bonus Jonas.”

20-year-old Frankie Jonas was too young to be an original Jonas Brother, so he had to rise to fame on TikTok.

For a little nostalgia, if you’re a little younger than I am…here is Nick, Kevin, and Joe with Selfish.

I wanna be selfish, selfish for you and not for me
I wanna be loveless, selfless
Want all of you for me

Snoop Dogg – CEO

You guys…Snoop is back!

Snoop is the CEO. The CEO of Indoggo Gin. That’s right. Snoop is officially in the Gin n’ Juice game.

This music video is just a 4 minute advertisement for Indoggo, but the song slaps so hard. When I think hip hop, Snoop is one of the first artists I think of.

Here’s the Dogfather with CEO

I’m back like I never left
In this muthafucka spitting rhymes ’til my last breath

New Music Friday!

Happy weekend, buttcakes! It’s New Music Friday! Last week’s NMF is going to be tough to beat. But there is some good stuff this week!

Selena Gomez ft. Myke Towers – Dámelo To’

Selena Gomez officially released her first 7-track EP entirely in Spanish, Revelación. In an interview with Apple Music, Selena said that a project is something she has wanted to do for 10 years because she is proud of her heritage.

Here is Dámelo To’, which means “Give it to me.” This song is about doin’ it.

Stay, I want to lose my manners until dawn
And all you have to do, you already know
You say my name and I don’t care about anything
Others try but no, they never achieved anything
Others try but no
Finish what you started…

Nick Jonas – 2Drunk

The most popular Jonas brother just released his studio album Spaceman. This is Jonas’ first solo album since 2016 when he released Last Year Was Complicated. When singing with his brothers, it’s that bubble gum pop for the teenage girls. Solo Nick Jonas is definitely leaning more to the R&B side.

This is definitely a song I can relate to. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been waaaay 2Drunk.

Too drunk and I’m all in my feelings
Oh, well, now I’m high as the ceiling
And, oh, I think I just hit my stride
Till I wake up and hate my life

Rosé – On The Ground

Blackpink and K-pop fans have been waiting for this album for a long time. Rosé’s first solo album, R dropped today and reactions have been mixed.

We have a little bit of everything from her fans. We’ll let you be the judge.

Here is Korean pop superstar, Rosé with On The Ground

My life’s been magic seems fantastic
I used to have a hole in the wall with a mattress
It’s funny when you want it
Suddenly you have it
You find out that your gold’s just plastic

Machine Gun Kelly ft. CORPSE – DAYWALKER!

Now for something completely different.

DAYWALKER! is intense and actually gives me anxiety…but I kind of like it. This song is its own new genre…like “Screamo Whisper Rap.” I know that doesn’t make any sense at all and is an absolute contradiction, but you’ll understand when you hear the song.

AJ Mitchell – Cameras On

AJ Mitchell does not get nearly enough attention. I started listening to him when I randomly heard I Don’t Want You Back and his vocals blew me away. This dude can hit some ball-crushing notes, and I think the 19-year-old deserves a much brighter spotlight.

Check out his new single, Cameras On

Yeah I’ve seen it in my past
Yeah that fake love it don’t last
And I know what it will do to me (I know)
When I think they want me well
They tryin’ to make me someone else
And I know what that will do to me (I know)

Conclusion

We had some highly-anticipated releases this week. None more anticipated than Rosé. There is a lot more to hear, so check out Spotify’s weekly New Music Friday playlist right here!

Silk Sonic: Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak Announce Joint Album

Finally! I’ve been waiting for Bruno Mars to put new music out there. Even better that it’s with Anderson .Paak. To sweeten the deal even more, Parliament Funkadelic bassist and funk superstar, Bootsy Collins, will be featured as a “Special Guest Host.”

The last we heard of Bruno Mars was in 2019, when he was featured on Ed Sheeran‘s track, Blow, with Chris Stapleton. He also released Please Me with Cardi B in February of 2019. His last album was 24k Magic in 2016.

Grammy-winning rapper/singer/songwriter Anderson .Paak will be joining Bruno on this album. Paak has had a nice career for himself, so far. We last heard from him in 2020 when he hit the Madden 21 soundtrack with Cut Em In alongside Rick Ross.

Funk legend, Bootsy Collins joins the duo as the “Special Guest Host.” I absolutely can’t wait to hear what he contributes to the album.

Bruno made the official announcement on his Instagram yesterday:

Be ready for New Music Friday next week, as the team drops their first single from the album. It’s sure to be a banger.

There is no release date for An Evening With Silk Sonic at the moment, but at least we get a nice taste of the album next week!
